Nokia X6 - hardware

Nokia X6 is a clear successor of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It is a full touch screen device with 3,2" 16:9 widescreen. So the display is the same like on 5800XM, but Nokia X6 got "capacitive touch" display (like Apple iPhone). This means that you will be able to control the device by fingers only. Any plastic styluses will not work. The used materials are glass and metal so it looks really like a premium device

Nokia X6 will bring several improvments compared to 5800XM. First of all it is bigger memory. The basic internal memory will by 32GB and will be expandeble by microSD memory cards. Camera is also improved - X6 has 5Mpix camera with Carl Zeiss optics. Operating systems remains the same - Symbian 5th edition. But there are newly integrated Nokia OVI services: Ovi Share, Ovi Contacts and mainly Nokia Comes With Music. What are these services about?


Nokia X6 - OVI services

The most important service is called Comes With Music. It is an unlimited offer of music from Nokia music store for a monthly subscription fee. This service will be bundled with Nokia X6 for free but will be available only in few selected countries (list available here). So at the beginning of sales Nokia X6 will be targeted to the countries with Comes With Music service only. (The Comes With Music service demo is here.)

The other Nokia services integrated into Nokia X6 are Ovi Store, Ovi contacts (allows online contacts back-up), Ovi Share and Ovi Maps with GPS navigation.


Nokia X6 - homescreen

Nokia X6 will bring improved homescreen. Compared to Nokia 5800XM you will be able to add up to 20 contacts and community services like a Facebook to the homescreen. If you click on one of your friend on the screen, you will immediately see your last SMS messages, shared pictures and call records. From the homescreen you will be also able to play and control the music. Additionally to that there will be application called Playlist DJ that will help you to create music playlist based on your current mood.


Nokia X6 - multimedia

Nokia X6 is ideal device also for recording and watching videos. Directly in the phone you can capture images and videos, edit them and upload them to the internet on YouTube. Connection of headphones via 3,5mm connector is possible as well and majority known audio/video formats are supported.

Nokia X6 - summary

Nokia X6 is good device for current users of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic or Nokia N7x users. This device will be available later in Q4/2009 in red and blue colours. The expected price is 350€.
